What changed
Ahmednagar was officially renamed Ahilyanagar on 5 October 2024, following a Maharashtra cabinet decision in March 2024 and central government approval. The name honours Ahilyabai Holkar, the 18th-century Maratha ruler born in the district. The railway station was renamed subsequently.
